Learn About Our Faith
Welcome to the Greek Orthodox Christian Faith, an ancient and living tradition rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Apostles. The Orthodox Church has preserved the fullness of Christian truth for over 2,000 years, offering a rich spiritual heritage that continues to guide and inspire believers today.
Who We Are
The Greek Orthodox Church is part of the worldwide Orthodox Christian community, united in faith, worship, and tradition. We uphold the teachings of the early Church, as expressed in Holy Scripture, the writings of the Church Fathers, and the Ecumenical Councils.
Our Core Beliefs
-
The Holy Trinity – We believe in one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
Jesus Christ – The Son of God, fully divine and fully human, who came to save the world through His life, death, and resurrection.
-
Holy Scripture & Holy Tradition – We uphold the Bible as God’s inspired Word, together with the sacred traditions of the Church.
-
The Church – The Body of Christ, founded by Jesus and guided by the Holy Spirit through the Apostolic succession.
-
The Sacraments (Mysteries) – Means of receiving God’s grace, including Baptism, Holy Communion, Confession, and more.
-
Eternal Life – We believe in the resurrection of the dead and life in God’s Kingdom for all who love and follow Him.
Worship and Spiritual Life
Orthodox worship is deeply spiritual, centered on the Divine Liturgy, where we participate in the Eucharist (Holy Communion), prayers, and hymns that have been passed down for centuries. Icons, incense, and chants enhance our experience, helping us enter God’s presence.
The Church Year & Feasts
Our faith is lived throughout the year with major feast days, including:
-
Pascha (Easter) – The Resurrection of Christ, the greatest feast of the Church.
-
Christmas – The birth of Jesus Christ.
-
Theophany – The baptism of Christ.
-
Dormition of the Theotokos – Honoring the falling asleep of the Virgin Mary.
